George W. Groeling, 78, of Shannon, IL, passed away on January 15, 2023 at home with family. He was born on November 7, 1944 in Dekalb, IL, to Albert Groeling and Doris Hartman. He graduated from Pecatonica High School and on December 5, 1975, married Judith Sommers. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Tidewater. He was the owner of George W. Groeling & Sons Salvage, Inc.

Survivors include his wife Judith, son William (Lindsay) Groeling, daughters: Linda (Curt) Buchwalter and Annette Groeling; grandchildren: Kristi (Jacob) Countryman, Daniel Groeling, Brandon (Sarah) Groeling, Abby Groeling, William Groeling, Jr, Matthew Groeling, Jackie (Vinnie) Semler, Dennis Buchwalter, and Taylor (Kelsey) Groeling-Barr; and great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Theodore.

He was preceded in death by his brother Delbert Groeling, and sons: Matthew Groeling and Kenneth Groeling.

A visitation will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023, from 12 noon until 2PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd, in Freeport, IL.

Graveside service will immediately follow at East Pecatonica Cemetery on Sumner and Spielman Road, with Dave Hartman officiating.
