George Dyck, 89, of Freeport, IL passed away on November 29, 2022 in Freeport. He was born on February 6, 1933 in Gretna, Manitoba, Canada to parents Peter and Katherina (Wiebe) Dyck. George married Rosa Saucedo on September 17, 1997. He attended the First Baptist Church of Freeport.
In 1965, George graduated from Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois. He received a BA in history and secondary education and taught school for several years. Following that time, his work was primarily in the printing industry, which brought him to Freeport in 1980. His most recent employment was in Customer Service at Swiss Colony in Monroe, Wisconsin.
George was an active and committed Christian. His Christian upbringing shaped his life for all his life. He enjoyed being in church, singing, and Bible study, both leading and learning in them.
More than anything, George enjoyed his wife, family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George is survived by his 13 children; Vienna Horwath of Arizona, Yvonne Wagner of Highland Park IL, Judson (Sophia) Dyck of Marysville IL, Angela (Carl) Valentino of Dixon IL, Martha Gonzalez of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Carolina Alcaraz Lopez of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Daniel Gonzalez of Freeport, Elias Gonzalez of Freeport, Elizabeth Pena (Marciano) of Rio Grande TX, Camilo (Olga) Gonzalez of Mobile AL, Dalila (Raul) Cuellar of Freeport, Jairo Gonzalez of Rockford IL, and Ana (Maurice) Maxwell of Hopkins SC; 40 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.
The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church, 413 West Empire Street, Freeport, IL, on Sunday, December 4. Visitation 2:00PM, Service 3:00PM.
Funeral services are under the care of Schwarz Funeral Home, Freeport.
