George Carpenter, 61, of Freeport, IL, passed away April 24, 2020 at home. He was born on December 26, 1958 in Savanna, IL to Russell and Dorothy (Slusher) Carpenter. He was a graduate of Lena High School and on January 21, 1983, married JoAnn Thomas-Maurer in Freeport.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn Carpenter, sons Brad (Lorena) Maurer of Yuma, AZ and Ron (Wendy) Maurer of Freeport, son-in-law Josh Swift, daughter Misty (Riki) Sjachrani of Madison, WI, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, brothers Carl (Nancy) Carpenter, Roy (Jolene) Carpenter, Dale Carpenter, Jim Carpenter, and sister Alice (Todd) Raymer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
