Gene Alvin Cross, 88, of Lanark, IL, passed away on August 18, 2023 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born in Buffalo Township, IL, to Alvin Willis Cross & Gladys (Shellhause) Cross. He was a 1954 graduate of Lanark High School. He married Bernadine Ann (Olson) on November 13, 1955 in Milledgeville, IL. He worked 33 years for FS Carroll Service Company.

Survivors include his sister Goldie Wheeler (Baileyville, IL), son Brad Cross of Lanark, IL, daughter Kathy Taylor (husband David) of San Angelo, TX, son Eric Cross of Lanark, IL, grandson Jonathan Taylor (wife Sara) of Forreston, IL, grandson Derik Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, granddaughter Deidre Taylor of Grand Forks, ND, grandson Dustin Taylor (wife Sarah) of Katy, TX, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine Cross (2019).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM, at the Baileyville Baptist Church, 303 W. Franklin St, Baileyville, IL. Pastor Gary Branam and Pastor Dustin Taylor will officiate. Friends may visit at the church from 1:00 PM until time of service.
