Gary L. Meinert, 72, of Freeport, IL, passed away on October 10, 2024 in Madison, WI after a brief illness. He was born on March 16, 1952 in Freeport, to Samuel Meinert, Jr and Doris (Reuber) Meinert. He graduated from Forreston High School. He married Patricia Deets at East Jordan Church in Sterling, IL. He worked at Kelly Springfield / Goodyear until his retirement.

Survivors include his daughter Heather (Torrence) Bush of Freeport, son Chad Meinert of Freeport, grandchildren: Jordan Meinert of Freeport, Sarah (fiancé Sean Stichter) Reed of Freeport, and Kayla Reed of Lincoln, Nebraska; 10 great-grandchildren, and special friend Crystal Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dennis Meinert.

A visitation will be held on Thursday October 17, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL.
