Gary Lee Janssen, 76, of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday October 13, 2020 at home. He was born on December 29, 1943 in Freeport, to LeRoy Heiko Janssen and Lydia Leona (Schmoll) Janssen. He married Judy A. Backes on November 5, 1966 in Galena, IL. He was an over the road truck driver and a member of Freeport Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors include his wife Judy (Backes) Janssen; daughters: Penny (Richard) Luy and Brenda Janssen Wade; 9 grandchildren: Dustin (Andrea) Wilkinson, Gary (Joey) Wilkinson, Ashley Wilkinson, Joshua Janssen, Dylan (Shia) Janssen, Nate (Kerri) Luy, Zachary (Laura) Janssen, Charity Luy, and Steve Luy; and 23.5 great-grandchildren (baby on the way).

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Deb, brother-in-law Donnie Fust, and son Stephen.

A memorial service will be held on Friday October 16, 2020 at 6 PM with a visitation at 5 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd, Freeport, IL, with Pastor Archer Woodstock officiating.
