Obituary

Galey Albert Bissell, Jr. of Freeport, Illinois passed away at the young age of 76 at Agrace Hospice on June 28, 2022.  Galey's decline in health was due to an aggressive form of Myeloma.  Galey will now join so many friends and family that passed before him.  Galey (known to family and friends as Butch or Hans) never met a stranger, was always ready to lend a hand and could always make you laugh.  He will leave a huge hole in the hearts of those he loved.  Galey served in the United States Army from 1964-1966, in addition to multiple odd jobs Galey was a self-employed White Washer/Painter, he worked his mother's lunch wagon (food truck) and worked the kitchen at the Dakota Sale Barn for years.  He loved the outdoors, watching thunderstorms, the birds at his feeders in the mornings, black coffee all day, and he looked forward to hunting and trapping season.  He still believed in "dropping in" to visit and helping out anyone in need however he could.  His greatest joys in life were his daughter's Christine Bissell Allen and Danielle Bissell Nelson and his Grandchildren Dalton and Jackson Allen, and Brancyn and Brylee Bissell.

Galey was preceded in death by his wife Sharon L. (Berryman) Bissell, parents Kathryn Stickle and Galey Albert Bissell, Sr., mother and father-in-law Cletus and Esther Berryman, brothers Kenneth Bissell and Marvin Sittig, sister Gale and husband Allan Wesley, brother-in-law Donald Kruse, sister-in-law Shari (Berryman) Dixon, and two nephews Marvin Sittig, Jr. and Gregg Wesley.

Galey is survived by his sister JoAnn Kruse, sister Sue Rankin (her husband Brian), daughter Christine Bissell Allen (her husband Tony, and sons Dalton and Jackson), daughter Danielle Bissell Nelson (her husband Mike Nelson, son Brancyn Bissell, daughter Brylee Bissell and stepdaughter Jade Nelson), sisters-in-law Cathy Sittig and Judy Berryman, brothers-in-law Kenneth and Kevin Berryman and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be celebrating Galey's life on Saturday October 29 th , 2022 from 1PM - 4PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport.
