Eugene Woker passed away on September 14, 2020 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 6, 1940 to Verlas and Clara (Keister) Woker in Freeport IL. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol (Lincicum) Woker; his daughters Angela (Todd) Hibben and Kelly (Eric) Weiand; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Dean.

Gene grew up on a farm and loved to hunt and fish throughout his life. Gene worked as a mechanic, a carpenter, and a heavy equipment operator. His artistry can be seen in the construction of furniture within homes of his friends and family.

Early in his career, Gene was an assistant chief of police in Stockton and worked as a deputy for Jo Daviess County. While serving in these positions, he earned a medal from the American Red Cross for saving a life. He served as the Stockton Township Road Commissioner for eight years and as a volunteer EMT for Stockton for many years. At the end of his professional career, he was a member of Local 150 Operating Engineers and worked as a Class 1 Operator for Curren Construction.

Gene's patience, kindness, and bravery will be missed by all who knew him. His family will gather privately to celebrate his life. A memorial has been established in his name for cancer research at Mayo Clinic.
