Eugene (Gene) D. Thulen, 79, of Savanna, IL, passed away on June 12, 2025, at Mercy One Genesis in Davenport, IA. He was born on June 30, 1945 in Savanna, IL, to LaVerne E. Thulen and Mary J. (Green). He married Lana Baumgardt on March 12, 1966 in Savanna. He drove the Savanna Cab for many years and collected scrap cars. Eugene (Gene) will be remembered for working on cars, playing cards, pool, and riding his motorcycle. In his early years, he enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley with his friends & family late into the evening.

Survivors include his children: Brenda (Troy) Zink, Debbie (Rick) Miller, and Gene Thulen; 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Max.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lana Thulen, parents LaVerne Thulen and Mary Green, stepfather Lawrence (Stogie) Bauer, 2 sisters, Judy & Barb, niece Terry, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
