Elsie Mae (Schmid) McNett        March 19, 1935 – March 10, 2026

Elsie Mae (Schmid) McNett, 90, of Freeport went to her heavenly home on March 10, 2026 at Manor Court with her family by her side. Elsie was born in Galena IL to Richard and Freida (Kienzle) Schmid.  She was the youngest of 16 children.  She married Gerald "Jerry" R. McNett in December 1956 in Galena. They moved to Freeport and she worked at Burgess Battery and then Micro Switch, until her retirement.  They had five children, Marlene (Steve) Kroeger, Sherri (John) Osterberger, Linda McNett, David McNett and Kevin (Janice) McNett. She had 8 grandchildren.  Luke (Julie) Kroeger, Amy (Kyle) Dornink, Kelsie (Bryan) Bannach, Tegan Allen, Tyler McNett, Brynlee McNett, Kaine (Becca Ensor) McNett and Briana (Bailey) Luy.  She had 8 great grandchildren, Nora, Evelyn, Otto and Theodore Kroeger Alaina and Alden Dornink, Cooper Bannach, and Benson Luy.

She was a hard worker and had a great love for her family.  She enjoyed going to many activities for her grandchildren.  She looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and keeping up on all of their activities.  She also loved to see her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Marlene, Linda, David and Kevin and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is survived by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, her daughter Sherri and all of her siblings.

Also, preceding her were many brothers and sisters-in-law.

The family will have a private burial service but will have a "Celebration of Life" at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, at 608 S. Park Blvd, on Saturday April 11, 2026, from noon to 2:00 pm.
