Elizabeth J. Maurer, 81, of Freeport, IL, passed away on April 6, 2021 at home. She was born on July 9, 1939 in Freeport to William Kintzel and Jeanne (Welch) Kintzel. She attended and graduated from Freeport High School. She also received her AA from Highland Community College. Elizabeth married Lee Retzlaff and later married David Maurer. Elizabeth was a bar manager for most of her life.

Survivors include her Children: Melinda (Michael) Reiman, Nick (Shannon) Maurer, Laura Gale, Maria "Mia" Maurer, and William "Billy" Maurer (Rome Cook); Grandchildren: Laycee (Lee) Lightfoot, Lorna Gale, Melissa Reiman, Amanda (Matthew) Carnrike, Paige Maurer, Mayson Maurer, Jace Maurer, Blake Maurer, Rayce Gale, Kade Ishmon, Kai Ishmon, Jade McWorthy and Alexa McWorthy; Great-Grandchildren: Grayson Lightfoot, Mila Carnrike, Layla May, Jaylen May, Journee May, Major Merriman, Jayce Ishmon, Gianna Ishmon, Camilla Ishmon, and Brynn Ishmon; Sisters: Maridy (Rex) Brinkmeier and Karen (Tom) Capone; Brother-In-Law Frank Fryer; and Nieces and Nephews: Shelly (Kurt) Zuck, Stacy (Kyle) Warner, Nate (Becky) Linder, Amy (Scott) Shippy, Jaymie (Melvin) Isom, Anthoy Capone, Martin Capone, and Bethann Capone.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her son Rick Retzlaff, her sister Sandy Fryer, her mother Jeanne Kintzel and her father William Kintzel.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 10, 2021 from 7-8 PM, with a visitation from 4-7 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL.
