Edward E. Collins, affectionately known as "Mank" and "Steady," departed this life on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 1, 1943, in Freeport, Illinois, to the late Willie and Annie Mae Collins.

Edward was baptized at an early age. He was a man who truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, telling jokes, lying, and trying his luck at the casino. His outgoing personality, sense of humor, and joyful spirit made him someone people loved being around. Whether you knew him as "Mank" or "Steady," Edward left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Edward leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his beloved wife, Paulette Collins, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Clifton Collins (Kim) of Freeport, Illinois; Kendrick Collins (Tricia) of Roscoe, Illinois; Curtis Ellis of Wisconsin; Willie Hall and Keisha Hall of Memphis, Tennessee. He lovingly raised two grandchildren, Latayllia Horde and Carl Horde, as his own.

He is also survived by his brothers, Lynn Collins (Constance) of Freeport, Illinois, and Charles Collins (Elizabeth) of. Rockford, Illinois; his sister, Dorothy Muse of Freeport, Illinois; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. He also leaves behind his special friend, Jake West.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Annie Mae Collins; his daughter, Arletta K. Horde; his son, Edward C. Collins; one great-granddaughter Malaysia Wade; and four sisters.

Edward's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all whose lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on through the countless memories he created with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday July 6, 2026, from 4PM – 6PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2026, at 11 AM at World Impact Ministries COGIC, 250 N. Westwood Ave in Freeport. Friends may call at the church from 10 AM until time of service.
