Dorothy
Turner
Jul 11, 1931 — Jan 21, 2025
Dorothy M. Turner, 92, of Freeport, IL, passed away on January 21, 2025. She was born July 11, 1931, in Freeport, to parents Ralph Watkins and Palma McKinney. She married Robert Turner of Freeport. She was the Owner of Ridott Corners, and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lena, IL.
Mom was a force to be reckoned with and those that knew her loved her for it. She had a feisty spirit and bubbly personality that would kick-start any event into full swing by simply entering the room with a loud hello.
Some of mom's interests were gardening, bowling, playing Euchre, reading, crochet and sun tanning, she was really good at that one. Mom was definitely a fun-loving gal. She could tailgate with the best of them and would cheer for The Pack and Da Bears until her voice gave out. Her determination and energy could match someone much younger than herself, which allowed her to accomplish a lot in a very short amount of time. Mom was always one of the first to volunteer at a moment's notice and made friends wherever she went. Her unwavering support and non-conditional love for her family was limitless. A few years ago, I asked mom if there was anything she would change about her life. She responded, "nothing, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat."
Mom, you were the glue that held us together and we will never forget you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the memories; good, bad or indifferent, you were the best.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Michael) Giardini, DIL, Deena (Jim) Mullarkey, 6 Grandchildren, Lisa (Bobby) Williams, Jenna (Josh) Alderks, Billy (Emily) Mullarkey, Mike (Renae) Mullarkey, Patrick (Amanda) Mullarkey, Tyler Mullarkey, 9 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren plus 1 due in March 2025, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Robert Turner, sons, Jim and Jay Mullarkey, daughter, Kathy Mullarkey, and grandsons, Jared Mullarkey and James Patrick Daily.
A service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lena, IL, on February 2, 2025 @ 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill followed by a Celebration of Life in summer, 2025. Date to be determined.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at FHN Hospice.
Donations can go to St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena, IL.
