Larry would pass in 1995. She worked at Honeywell Micro Switch for 25 years, as well as Burgess Battery and was a department store clerk at Woolworth's. Doris spent most of her life in Freeport, IL, only moving to Mason City in 2018. She loved going on road trips with her grandson, as well as crocheting, reading, going to parades, playing cards, and looking at the autumn colors on country roads with family and friends. She enjoyed a nice, covered bridge, and always looked forward to Christmas (and was known to have a few Santa's up all throughout the year). She spent her last few years living with her granddaughter-in-law Marcia, and quickly claimed ownership of Marcia's two dogs (and sometimes the parrot if he was behaving himself). Doris kept a little free library in front to help rehome the many books she read and was delighted when she saw someone taking a book home with them.
