Donald L. Goethe, 82, of Freeport, IL, passed away on March 16, 2026 at St. Joseph Village in Freeport. He was born on October 26, 1943 in Lena, IL, to Lester Goethe and Mildred (Koppein) Goethe. He was a 1961 Le-Win High School graduate, and later Rockford School of Business. He married Sharon Hess on January 19, 1962, at the Lena, IL Salem United Church of Christ. He was a business owner of Koym Electric Supply, and organizations included Ducks Unlimited, Eagles Club for 46 years, and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, golf, and traveling with his wife Sharon. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest.

Survivors include his wife Sharon, daughter Kimberlee, son Jeffrey, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene and Jerry, and sister Kathy Baldauf.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 2 PM, with visitation from 1 PM until time of service, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL. Pastor Scott Hess of Calvary Church of Stockton, IL will officiate. Inurnment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
