Donald Earnest, 88, of Pearl City, IL, passed away April 18, 2022, at Allure of Mt. Carroll. He was born September 9, 1933, in Freeport, IL, to William and Gwendolyn (Grimes) Earnest. He was a 1951 graduate of Lanark High School and on October 11, 1956, he married Beulah Kortner at Ebenezer Church. He worked for Keith Rogers Lanark Ready Mix and worked 14 ½ years for FW Woolworth and the Pearl City School District. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, VFW, Legion, and Pearl City Ebenezer UCC Member, Sunday School Officer, Cub Scout Leader, and Volunteer Fireman. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.
Survivors include 2 sons: Brian (Cindy) Earnest and Dwain (Patti) Earnest; 1 daughter, Diane (Ed Schreiner) Henry, 5 grandchildren: Jason Earnest, Angie Schreck, Jerod Henry (Reagan Budden), Sara Daiker, and Tyler (Lexi) Earnest, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah, parents, stepfather, sister, and 2 brothers-in-law.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 23, 2022, at 11 AM, with visitation at 10 AM, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL, with Pastor Jim Brown officiating. A memorial has been established.
