Dolores (Lamm) Wienand of Freeport, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, on March 18, 2024. Dolores was born on January 23, 1938 in Freeport, IL. She was the daughter of Robert J. and Magdalen (Brown) Lamm. Dolores graduated from Aquin HS. She married William (Bill) Wienand on May 10, 1958.
Dolores loved learning about her family history and German heritage. She loved visiting museums and churches. She collected aprons, and over the years shared stories and gave presentations about them. Dolores loved decorating her home for the holidays. She had multiple Christmas trees themed from different countries around the world. Bill and Dolores were avid Department 56 village collectors and had a beautiful display that many admired.
Bill and Dolores enjoyed traveling and they traveled to all 50 states and numerous European countries. They traveled the entire Lewis and Clark trail. They took many family vacations instilling in their children the love of the mountains and traveling in general.
Over the years Dolores was a member of the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club, St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph Marian Society, Runde the Teapot of German Valley, Red Hat Society, and the Freeport Ski Club.
Dolores loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.
Dolores is survived by four children, Donald (Lisa) Wienand, Deborah (David) Kaczar, James (Lauri) Wienand, and Mary (Saeed) Ahmad. There are also 8 grandchildren, Tim (fiance Robyn), Nick (Brittney) and Brian (Jenna) Kaczar, Rebecca (PJ) Sullivan, and Sarah, Hannah, Zachary, and Amber Ahmad. One great-grandson, Beckett William Sullivan. Also survived by brother-in-law Greg (Barb) Wienand and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the children and grandchildren of Mary (Brown) Lamm.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband William, daughter Beth (Dave) Wahl, her parents, sister Roberta (Jack) Kohlbauer, and her step-mother Mary (Brown) Lamm, and other family members.
Visitation will be held at Schwarz Funeral Home Park Boulevard Chapel 608 S. Park Boulevard, Freeport, IL on Friday, March 22 from 9:00-10:30 AM. Service will be held there immediately following at 10:30. Father McMorrow will lead us in prayer. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
