Darlene Betty Janssen, 87, of Freeport, IL, and originally from Pearl City, IL, passed away on July 9, 2022 at FHN. She was born on December 17, 1934 to Reynold C. and Vivian L. (Barklow) Offenhiser. She was a graduate of Pearl City High School and on March 3, 1956, married Henry H. Janssen. Henry would pass away in 2007.

Survivors include 3 children: Kim (Keith) Franklin of Madison, WI, Gina (Dave) Timm of Freeport, IL, and Jeff (Stephanie) Janssen of Huron, OH; 4 grandchildren: Gentry (Kyle) Tetschlag, Derrick (Pris) Timm, Sydney Janssen, and Ian Janssen; and 4 great-grandchildren: Finley Tetschlag, Elodie Tetschlag, Kade Tetschlag, and Remi Tetschlag.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry H. Janssen and her brother Wayne Offenhiser.

She was a homemaker, a member of First Lutheran Church, and lived at Oakley Courts in Freeport. Darlene loved collecting cookbooks, sewing, quilting, baking, flowers, Lincoln and Civil War history,family reunions, going for rides and being around family. Hank & Darlene also loved collecting antiques. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and loved the color purple.

A memorial service will be held on Friday August 5, 2022 at 11 AM, with visitation at 10 AM, at First Lutheran Church, 303 S. Galena Ave in Freeport, IL.
