Betty J. Taylor, 90, of Freeport, passed away August 19, 2024, at Serenity Hospice Home, with her son Jeff at her side. Born June 22, 1934 in Freeport, the daughter of Merle and Caryl J (Cornwell) Lower. Betty married Sterling (Bub) C Taylor Sr. October 23, 1958 in Freeport. Sterling passed away July 19, 2017.

Betty attended Freeport High School graduating in 1952. While in school she worked part time at Northwestern Telephone Co and continued there after graduation for 11 years. Betty helped her husband in his logging business and raised pigs and cattle until 1994, when she retired. Her favorite pastime was helping her husband to restore a '65 Ford stock car.

Survived by son Jeff L, Rockford, daughter Tina Taylor, Freeport, adopted son Charles special friends, Dave Meile of Baileyville and niece, Bobby Lynn Fletcher of Rockford. Special thanks to the FHN Supportive Care (Cheri, Lindsey, Kera and Anne). Thanks to the staff at Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon, Illinois.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles, daughter Kelly and granddaughter Faithe.

There will be no visitation or service, Betty will be cremated and interment with her husband's ashes.
