Betty Clark, age 88, passed away on February 19, 2026 at Liberty Village in Freeport, Illinois.
She was born on June 24, 1937 to Raymond and Aletha (Pierce) Kappes.
She attended Stockton schools, graduating from Stockton High School. She had a great and loving time growing up in Stockton with her parents, siblings, and friends.
Betty Kappes married Roger Clark, her high school sweetheart, at Stockton Methodist Church, on May 24, 1958. Together they raised four sons.
Betty also worked outside of the home, holding positions of employment at Atwood (Stockton), Micro Switch, (Freeport), S. Falbo Cheese (Kent), and Freeport Memorial Hospital. She was always recognized as a great worker and teammate.
Being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother provided her continual joy and great purpose of her life. She loved and was very proud of her family.
A selfless and kind person, she always cared about the well-being of others first.
Betty also attended several churches, to include the (former) Reformed Community Church (Freeport), Pearl City Methodist Church, as well as the Crossroads Church (Freeport).
She is survived by her sister-in-law Shirley (Clark) Bertolino; sons Bill, Mike, Dan, and Tim; daughter in-laws Terri and Beth; Cyndi Clark, and Julie (Enzenbacher) Clark; grandchildren Lee, Dustin, Mallory, Keaton, Brady, Harper; step-granddaughter Jennifer (Acker) Hamburg, step-grandson William Acker; great-grandchildren Brodie and Weston Clark, along with step-great-grandchildren Isabella and Maximus Hamburg.
Betty had numerous nieces and nephews. In her latter days as a resident at Liberty Village, she enjoyed visits by numerous friends and family, like niece Suzette (Bordorf) Drane.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Raymond and Aletha Kappes, husband Roger Clark, and siblings Francis, Raymond Jr. and Wayne Kappes, Jerrine Kuhse, Marilyn Borsdorf, and Leone Hendrickson.
There will be no visitation. A private family funeral service will be held at Oakland Mausoleum, Freeport, IL on Friday February 27, 2026.
