Freeport – Betty Jean Bamberg, 98, of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday September 3, 2024. She was born on April 8, 1926, to Clinton and Dorothy Metz in Freeport. She married Charles Bamberg Jr, on February 23, 1946, in Freeport, IL. Charles passed away in 2014. Jean was a lifelong homemaker and a dedicated mother to her 5 sons.

Jean is survived by her sister Margaret Gitz of Freeport, and sons: Mark (Paulette) Bamberg of Freeport, Matthew (Patricia) Bamberg of Eldridge, Iowa, Scott (Jackie) Bamberg of Epworth, Iowa, and Bradley Bamberg (Sandra) of Grayslake, IL. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Jean is preceded in death by brothers: Clinton Jr, Jake and Kenneth; sisters: Margie, Madalyn, Lois, and Shirley; and her son Andrew Bamberg.

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport
