Barbara Jo (Squires) Kohl

Barbara Jo (Squires) Kohl, 79, passed away on May 30, 2026. She was born on September 13, 1946, the daughter of Robert and Evelyn (Gale) Squires. On December 19, 1965, she married Ronald Kohl. She was employed by Fullerton's Bakery in her early years. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her nephews, nieces and their children. She also loved crocheting and spending time with her friends.

Barbara is survived by Ron, her loving husband of 60 years, and her dog, Lucky. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia (Pat) McNamer of Georgia and Kathy (Kitty) & Shirl Wise of Freeport; one brother, Michael (Mike) Squires and his wife, Kim; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Squires. Her memory lives on through several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. She leaves behind Ron's aunt, Priscilla, a special friend, Marla Israel, and many other dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Elsie Kohl; two sisters, Judy Kraujalis and Evelyn (Lynn) Cantrell; one brother, Robert (Bobby) Squires; and three brothers-in-law, Bill McNamer, Edwin Cantrell Sr., and Ronald Pfeiffer.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Grandview Cemetery in Freeport, IL. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow immediately at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel *lower level, located at 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers and the Senior Center for their dedicated care and support over the years.
