Obituary

Miss Alee Phillips was born on August 19, 1935, to Elnora Stewart Phillips in the state of Mississippi. She was lovingly raised in Freeport, Illinois, by her uncle Henry "Buck" Lewis and his wife Sarah Stewart Lewis, surrounded by the care and support of many aunts and uncles.

Alee returned to Detroit for her senior year of high school, where she graduated from Sydney Miller High School. Following her graduation, she moved back to Freeport, Illinois, where she built a life rooted in family and community. In 1964, Alee married John Allen Veasley and they were blessed with Noreen, Drenna, Joanne and Vince.

A dedicated and hardworking individual, Alee was employed by Structo Manufacturing and later Micro Switch Honeywell until her retirement.

Alee's life was shaped by her love of God and family, her Church homes- St. Paul Baptist and later Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist and the connections she nurtured throughout her years with best Friends Elizabeth Bruce Furdge and Jeanette Bruce.

After the Death of her husband Nov,2011 and a year of Prayer and advice from family and friends she moved to Newport News, Virginia to be closer to her children and Grandchildren. She joined First Baptist Church Denbigh in Newport News, VA where she was on the Missionary Board and a Apple Dumpling Seniors group member making additional friends while serving God.

On December 17, 2024 God called his Funny, much loved by her family and friends, daughter home from this Earth.

Alee leaves to truly cherish her memories 3 daughters, Noreen (Kevin) Taylor of Newport News, VA, Drenna (Reginald) Love of Hampton, VA, Joanne Drummond of Ghana, Africa, Vince Veasley of Newport News and Bonus Son Ron Stewart of Phoenix, AZ. Alee was blessed to be a Grandmother to Eric (Tameka) Curry and Kellen (Kelli) Taylor of Virginia Beach,VA, Allanah Drummond of Ghana, Africa, Dorothea Stewart of Phoenix, AZ, Aris Love of Hampton VA and Aaron (September) Love of Hunter Airfield Base, GA. Alee also leaves many Great and Great- Great Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews to remember her life.

Alee was preceded in death by her Mother Elnora, Husband John, son Oliver, Brother Perry Dorsey, cousin Floyd Jones, many Uncles and Aunts, cousins, In- Laws and others close to her heart.

Special Thanks to Cooke Bros. Funeral Home in Newport News, VA for preparing our mother for Transfer to Schwarz Funeral Home in Freeport, ILL. A viewing will be Friday evening Dec 27 in Freeport and Homegoing Service will be Sat Dec 28 at Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church at 11am with viewing from 10 am.
